Is ice fishing your pleasure?

Moosehead Lake – Winter’s chill provides us with a new landscape during this season. Ice fishing is one of our traditional winter pastimes here in northern Maine, and our frozen waterways create access to new areas and shorelines accessible for fishing and exploring. The frozen waters of the Moosehead Lake Region provide fun fishing opportunities for all to enjoy. From serious individual trophy pursuits to fun filled family outings; the Moosehead Region has it all. Moosehead Lake and its many surrounding lakes and ponds are known for their brook trout, landlocked salmon, and lake trout (togue) fisheries. Several nearby smaller ponds provide exciting action for small mouth bass and white perch. The traditional “ice shack” or “fish house” provides shelter, which is certainly appreciated during those arctic like winter days. There are several local retailers ready to equip you with licenses and all of your equipment, bait and tackle needs.

Ice fishing season runs from January 1 through March 31

Late winter fishing can be spectacular, when the sun is bright and warming.
